What Body Shape Am I?

This article was submitted by Jane Sandwood in response to my blog, Butts or Burgers: Eating Vegan Changed My Body Type.

Jane wrote, “I am writing to you because when I worked as a personal trainer, it became evident that we each have one of three body types. The endomorph, mesomorph, and ectomorph. You see, body types are far more than just whether we are buff or lanky, top-heavy or bottom-heavy. And in terms of fitness, there’s definitely no one-size-fits-all approach. And once you understand which body type you have, then you can create a specific workout and diet plan that will help you meet your fitness goals.”

A Vegan Diet to Match Your Body Type

We’ll let you into a little secret. There’s nothing to stop you from maintaining a healthy body and enjoying delicious meals at the same time, even if you’re a devout vegan. So don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. The key to shaping your frame, without sacrificing taste, lies in a thorough understanding of your body type and what it needs to function effectively.

A basic analysis of the human body means we can separate it into three distinctive body types:

  1. Endomorphs – people with soft, round bodies and a high proportion of fat.
  2. Mesomorphs – people with compact, muscular bodies, who bulk up really easily.

Ectomorphs – people we tend to refer to as lanky and skinny, who find it difficult to build muscle.

To keep their weight at a steady level, endomorphs need to cut out processed foods, cut down on calorie intake, drink plenty of water, eat lots of vegetables, and indulge in more recipes that focus on the use of whole grains, all of which can be achieved on a 100% vegan diet.

To avoid bulking up too quickly, mesomorphs need to focus on consuming an equal amount of carbs, proteins, and fats, easily achievable by following the ideas in these tasty vegan breakfast recipes.

For an ectomorph finding it hard to build up muscle or increase curves, it’s important to eat something every couple of hours, which is why these vegan super-foods can suddenly become super useful. So, don’t waste any more time and energy on eating something that’s not right for your body. Delve into this guide to specific body types and find out how best to care for the body you’ve been blessed with.
